This is your last chance to enter for the Oxford Youth Climate Action Champion Award 2024, sponsored by Oxford University’s Saïd Business School - to win a place on a 2025 climate summer school in Oxford. Nominations close on Monday, 19 Aug.

Led by the Oxford Mail and Oxford City Council, there are 12 Oxford Climate Awards, including the youth action prize. These honour exemplary efforts among schools, organisations and businesses to respond to the climate challenge.

Oxford Climate awards

Sponsored by Oxford Saїd, the youth award celebrates under 18s in Oxford and Oxfordshire who have demonstrated dedication to environmental sustainability. Their efforts should inspire and empower their peers to take action for a greener future.

The prize winner will have a free place on the highly-sought-after 2025 Oxford Saїd Future Climate Innovators Summer School residential programme for 16-18 year-olds. Dates are to be confirmed, but it will be in the school summer holidays next year. To qualify for the summer school, the student must be over 15 and 10 months and under 19 years old on 1 July 2025 – ie in years 11,12 or 13.

The summer school programme will take place at Oxford Saїd and accommodation will be at one of the University colleges. 

How to enter

To nominate someone for the award, you need to answer five questions:

  1. Say how has the nominee demonstrated exceptional leadership and initiative in addressing climate change and promoting sustainability within their community or school.
  2. Describe specific projects, campaigns, or actions undertaken to raise awareness about climate-related issues and inspire others to take action.
  3. Explain how the nominee has engaged with peers, educators, or local authorities to advocate for climate-friendly policies, practices, or initiatives?
  4. Provide examples of innovation, creativity, and resilience in their efforts to combat climate change and promote environmental stewardship.
  5. Say how has the nominee demonstrated a commitment to ongoing learning and growth in their role as a youth climate action champion, and how have they inspired others to join them in their efforts?
