Introducing the 2022 Rewley Scholars
At the beginning of the 2022-23 academic year, we welcomed our inaugural cohort of Rewley scholars onto the MBA and MSc Financial Economics (MFE) programmes.
The scholarship, made possible thanks to the generosity of our alumni and their support of the Rewley Fund on Giving Day, serves to strengthen the bonds of community that we share. By supporting future generations of Oxford Saïd students, our alumni enable them to benefit from the education, experience, and networking opportunities the School offers.
The Rewley scholars this year include eight recipients on the MBA programme, and one on the MFE. They come from four continents, six nationalities, a range of industries, and bring diverse viewpoints and experience to their respective programmes.
I’m pursuing an MBA to meet people from outside my industry; gain different perspectives from my classmates that will challenge my assumptions; and hone my lateral thinking - a skill that Saïd Business School can help me to develop.
As we consider our goals for the next quarter-century, a key priority will be to educate leaders capable of driving positive systemic change and to embed these individuals within the world’s largest corporations, allowing us to maximise our impact and change business practices from within.
It’s why community giving is so important in enabling all that Oxford Saïd does. By offering philanthropically funded scholarships we can attract the most talented candidates, recruit top-class faculty to teach them, and provide excellent careers support – ensuring they land key positions within major organisations.
The Rewley Scholarship programme has this year impacted the lives of nine talented students. In future years, and with increased resource, we would like to make Rewley Scholarships available to all programmes, increase the number and value of available awards, and bring more talented candidates onto our courses who then go on to make significant changes in the business world.
This scholarship provides me the encouragement and motivation to keep working hard. In the future as an alumni and Oxonian, I also aspire to give back to the Oxford community.
