Profile

Praveen is a Lecturer in Finance at Saïd Business School.

He is an experienced investment banking professional, having worked in treasury sales function in MNC banks like Citibank (India), Standard Chartered Bank (Bahrain) and HSBC (Dubai) for nearly 20 years. In his last banking role, he was the Managing Director, Head of Corporate Sales, Global Markets MENA for HSBC in Dubai, where he was heading a team of 45 sales professionals, based in 10 different countries, delivering risk management solutions to corporate clients of all sizes.

Since changing career from investment banking to academia, he has acquired a PhD in financial risk management from Queen Mary University of London and have taught various undergraduate and postgraduate finance courses at University of Roehampton, Queen Mary University of London, and University of Greenwich. 

In addition to PhD, he holds a graduate degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK), MBA in Finance from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA).

Research

Praveen’s research interests include derivatives-based financial risk management, fixed income, corporate finance, banking, emerging markets, investments, financial planning and current events in financial world.

  • Financial Economics Meeting Conference, ESSCA Paris, 2022.
  • International Conference on Macroeconomic Analysis and International Finance, Crete, Greece, 2022.

Praveen is also a frequent reviewer of submitted papers for various finance journals.
