- As a medical doctor myself, I know how hard it is for healthcare leaders to find time to attend offerings such as the Saïd Business School's Oxford Healthcare Leadership Programme. It's very exciting that this is the first industry-specific leadership programme offered by the school. The opportunity to tap into the world's leading thinkers and academics in leadership, and tailor that to the healthcare world, which has so much complexity, and yet make such an enormous contribution to the society. - We've given a lot of thought to the design and content of this programme. And from a design perspective, we've considered three elements. The first element is that we wanted to ensure that we bring the latest cutting edge research from Oxford to the programme. And to make it really accessible to the challenges and the opportunities that healthcare leaders are facing today. The second element is bringing the Oxford Tutor Group, a real Oxford institution, to the programme. The tutor group enables a like-minded group of peers to get together and deepen and challenge their thinking around some of the topics in the programme to ensure that they can really understand what will enhance and develop their leadership going forward from the Programme. And the third element of the design is the fact that we really emphasise critical thinking. We don't bring to you simple solutions to problems because the complex issues in healthcare don't lend themselves to simple solutions. We actually encourage you to sharpen and deepen your critical thinking abilities so that you can apply those to future healthcare problems that you might face. - Not only will you be hearing from world class academics, but you'll also have the opportunity to build a network like no other. One of the things that Oxford prides itself on is preparing leaders to ask the right questions. One of the key features of the Oxford Healthcare Leadership Programme, which we believe makes it quite unique, is the fact that we will be asking leaders from all parts of the healthcare world to come together in Oxford. This means there'll be people from industries such as pharmaceutical companies or surgical suppliers, healthcare policy makers, government leaders, clinical leaders, people who actually have been involved in running hospitals or healthcare clinics. All of these people will come together and share their wisdom, breaking down the silos that can sometimes mean that leaders never really have a full picture of what the healthcare world looks like. - I hope the programme will give participants the opportunity to really reflect on their own personal leadership style. And think about how they can be more effective in their leadership going forward. It gives them an opportunity to understand a border health context. We're bringing this sort of complex global environment to the sessions so they can discuss what the implications of that are for their organisation and for themselves in the context of the conversations they have with their peer group.
