I knew I wanted to go to business school but I also wanted to study the Masters in International Health and Tropical Medicine. In the first year you can study Public Policy, Computer Science, Environmental Science, you can truly personalize the two years and that's what makes Oxford's 1+1 MBA programme so unique. This is an amazing combination of Public Policy and business. Within two years I got two Oxford degrees and learned so much from professors and my peers. In the first year I studied contemporary Chinese Studies, writing academic essays and doing all the research on Chinese history and politics, then the second year is a lot more real life orientated, Okay, so we have this problem, what can we do about it? The combination of academic space and the magic of being in such a historical place has been really Incredible. So I'm a medical doctor by training and I was looking towards a public health programme that would be able to allow me to do some kind of social entrepreneurship field. The 1+1, by combining the two, was able to afford me that. I've always been passionate about the intersection of technology, society and education, and when I saw the 1+1 programme I thought Ôwow I could combine with the MSC of Social Science At the Oxford Internet Institute and the Oxford MBAÕ. The MSC year definitely gave me the subject area knowledge that I needed to go into the industries that I wanted to, I was able to deep dive into the area of technology, society and education. The MBA has given me more of the practical skills that I'll need. I knew I wanted to expand my worldview. while I knew I wanted to do an MBA, I was really intrigued by the 1+1 programme because I wanted to do my own research as well. I'm most passionate about the intersection of environmental sustainability and social equity. First year I was able to deeply reflect on some of these ethical and philosophical questions and the second year I was able to apply my reflections into action. I think when you bring together so many ambitious people with such high energy, that sparked something quite special. The cohort and the community that I've been able to build was something beyond what I could have dreamed. My classmates are politicians, investment bankers, engineers, NGO founders, doctors, lawyers, you name it. We learn from each other on daily basis. That's one of the unique things about Oxford that makes it so amazing, the concentration of talented individuals they're able to connect with on a daily basis. You really see the diversity that Oxford has to offer in the business school, because I'm surrounded by opinions from all across the world. I can be a much more strategic and global thinker, so I think one of the things that the 1+1 MBA program has prepared me for most is how to engage in such a high-functioning, fast-paced, highly intellectual environment, where there are so many people who are incredibly talented, incredibly sharp. It's been a well-rounded experience and something that IÕll definitely take with me for the rest of my life. The students, the tutors, the academics, everyone involved in the space is really committed to improving the student experience and I really appreciated that about being at Oxford. Before I start the application process I didn't know anyone that came here to Oxford. It surpassed anything that I could have expected. My Oxford experience has been by far the great experience of my life, has been a wonderful two years, I have loved every second of it.
