How a focus on strategic leadership is helping Alpine F1 team’s title hopes.

When Alpine F1 Team driver, Esteban Ocon, notched up his maiden victory in the Hungarian Grand Prix last year, it was a major milestone for a team that had last graced the podium in 2013. Against this backdrop, the UK arm of Alpine agreed that strengthening the leadership capabilities of its senior managers was a priority.

In 2021, the team sent 26 staff on our programmes:

Bowmans - Preparing its partners to take charge

""

Established in 1885, Bowmans is one of Africa’s premier corporate and commercial law firms. Having already worked with Oxford on another leadership development project, what appealed to them about this programme was the strong focus on a law firm, which is nuanced and has its own complexities and challenges, as well as Oxford's research being grounded in the professional services context and methodology.

Bowmans elevated their lawyers from specialists to orchestrators in October 2021 when ten of their Partners and Business Service Heads attended Oxford Leading Professional Service Firms Programme.

Nelson turned to the Oxford Social Finance Programme to explore different ways of financing growing, sustainable businesses.

Helping an emerging profession define its role

Supporting and advocating for chiefs of staff across the world is the mission of international professional body - the Chief of Staff Association (CSA).  A relatively young profession, chiefs of staff are often associated with the military or politics but are becoming more common in the corporate world. But considerable ambiguity remains about the role and its career trajectory. To meet these challenges, the CSA turned to Saïd Business School to help create the first executive education programme designed specifically for chiefs of staff.
