The Linbury Scholarship profiles

The Linbury Scholarship programme is the first of its kind at Oxford Saïd. The partnership with the Linbury Trust has provided a unique opportunity for UK-based professionals in the arts, heritage, and cultural sectors to study at Oxford Saïd and, upon graduation, to take up more senior leadership roles in these sectors. The first Linbury Scholarship recipients started their studies in September 2018 and since then the scholarship has supported nine students at Oxford Saïd. 

The Linbury Trust is a charitable trust, established by Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover KG (John Sainsbury) and his wife Anya, Lady Sainsbury, CBE, the former ballerina Anya Linden. The name ‘Linbury’ is thus derived from the names Linden and Sainsbury.

Founded in 1973, the Linbury Trust makes grants to charities and towards charitable causes across a broad range of categories, including the arts, education, environment, medical, museums and heritage, overseas, and social welfare. In Oxford, Linbury has been a major supporter of the Ashmolean Museum; the Saïd Business School (the Sainsbury Library); Worcester College (where there is both a Linbury Building and a Sainsbury Building); and the Bodleian. Elsewhere the Linbury name is particularly associated with the Linbury Theatre (Royal Opera House), the Linbury Galleries (Tate Britain), the Linbury Gallery (Museum of London), and the Linbury Prize for Stage Design.
