Dr Mary Johnstone-Louis has been promoted to Senior Fellow in Management Practice, focusing on sustainability and meeting demand for cutting-edge teaching.
Dr Johnstone-Louis served as Founding Programme Director of The Ownership Project, is Head Tutor of the Oxford Leading Sustainable Corporations programme, and a member of Green Templeton College.
Commenting on her new role at Saïd Business School, she said: ‘It is an honour to join Oxford Saïd's Management Practice Faculty as a Senior Fellow.
‘Today across the globe, teams, executives, and board members grapple with the most urgent innovation challenge of our time - how to build the kind of strategic, regenerative businesses required to house, transport, and feed current and future generations within thriving, just, and inclusive systems.
‘I am delighted to bring the teaching and research Oxford offers to leaders as they navigate this crucial opportunity.’
Dr Johnstone-Louis’s research explores how business affects society, and how leaders build strategy around the public good. She has a longstanding research interest in women in business and her co-authored volume on sustainability leadership is slated for publication in 2023.
In 2021, Dr Johnstone-Louis was appointed Board Chair of B-Lab UK, the charity which supports the growth of the B Corp movement in the county, where for-profit companies have gained private certification for social and environmental performance. There are now estimated to be more than 1,000 B Corps in the country and over 5,000 globally.
A regular speaker and panellist, Dr Johnstone-Louis is also a World Economic Forum Global Futures Council Fellow and a member of the Jury of the IMD-Pictet Sustainability in Family Business Award.
