Professor Michael Gill has been commended in an online list of favourite professors.
Poets and Quants released their list of 'Favourite Professors of the MBA Class of 2022' which features Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, Associate Professor in Organisation Studies, Michael Gill.
Michael is no stranger to teaching accolades, having previously been listed in the Poets & Quants ‘Top 40 MBA professors under 40,’ Business Because ‘MBA Professors to Look Out For’, and receiving a University of Oxford Social Science Division ‘Teaching Excellence Award’.
His research focuses on the causes and consequences of individuals’ suffering in the workplace, complemented by his interest in qualitative research methods. His studies have explored how organisations can support or threaten workers’ mental health and damage their subjective sense of self.
Daniel Bu, a student of Michael’s, and Pershing Square scholar, who was listed in Poets and Quants ‘100 Best & Brightest MBAs: Class of 2022’ back in June, said:
'Michael was a particularly memorable professor of organisational behaviour who brought many theories around motivation and congruence to life.
His transitions between academic theory, practical application, and personal experience were seamless and light. He made it easy to grasp the bigger picture while zooming into the important micro-interactions that populate all of our work relationships.'
Michael’s teaching experience spans undergraduate, MBA and executive education. He has been praised in the past for making mental health an important topic in the classroom for our MBAs.
Michael is also marking further positive news. He is a member of a team, along with colleagues from the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, who has won a research grant from the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) to fund a research team to study how general practitioners decide whether to see patients in person or on-line.
