Dr. Agni Organoudaki, Dr. Paulo Savaget and Professor Daniel Armanios join the School’s faculty.
We are delighted to welcome three new members of faculty to our community from Michaelmas this year.
Associate Professor of Operations Management
Agni – who joins us as Associate Professor of Operations Management- recently received her PhD in Operations Research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Alongside her role at Oxford, she holds a visiting scholar position at the Harvard Kennedy School as a Harvard Data Science Initiative fellow.
Agni’s research interests lie at the intersection of machine learning and optimisation, with applications to both the healthcare and insurance industries. She has collaborated with numerous institutions on research, including a major medical society, an international reinsurance company, and more than eight hospitals from the US and Europe.
Through her work, Agni has developed new algorithms to address major data imperfections that are commonly found in real-world datasets. Her research has also resulted in multiple predictive and prescriptive models that improve patient care and hospital operations.
Associate Professor of Engineering
Paulo was previously employed at the School as Systems Change Postdoctoral Researcher, working extensively on the Systems Change Observatory with the Skoll Centre. He has now joined our faculty in the role of Associate Professor of Engineering, a joint post with the University’s Engineering department.
Paulo’s research covers the mechanics of entrepreneurship, often through a 'systems lens,' and always with a focus on sustainability challenges, such as poverty, climate change, and the circular economy. He is particularly interested in exploring innovative solutions in situations where resources are scarce and stakes are high.
BT Professor of Management
Daniel will join us as BT Professor of Management from January next year, coming to us from the Department of Engineering and Public Policy at Carnegie Mellon University. He is no stranger to Oxford, having graduated from two MSc programmes as a Rhodes Scholar, the first in Water Science, Policy and Management from the School of Geography and the Environment and the second in Management Research from Oxford Saïd.
Daniel’s research and teaching integrate civil engineering and organisational sociology to better understand how organisations coordinate to build and subsequently use infrastructure. The findings from his work have informed efforts to improve infrastructure management and policy, advancing sustainable development and innovation, while also providing solutions to alleviate systemic and persistent inequities within such systems. Through his research, he has also worked extensively with executives, firms and governments around the world.
We look forward to fostering new partnerships with Agni, Paulo and Daniel.
Interim Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour
Welcoming our new faculty, Sue Dopson, Interim Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour said: ‘It is a pleasure to welcome Agni, Paulo and Daniel to our faculty. We look forward to fostering new partnerships with these colleagues and collaborating with them on new research projects and engagement opportunities.’
