‘The work of Mark and his team is instrumental in supporting the advancement of our overall mission.'
Congratulations to Chief Information Officer Mark Bramwell, who has been named in the prestigious CIO 100 Awards - celebrating technology and business leaders driving change at their organisations.
Mark, who features on the sought-after annual list for a fourth time, said he was nonetheless ‘surprised, humbled, honoured, and proud’ to have been recognised.
‘I feel this award reflects the outstanding work taking place across the School and our IT/AV team, but also reflects well on our great work with the Division and the University,’ said Mark.
‘I have been particularly recognised for the team’s response to Covid and how we continued operations, the digital strategy we have developed, and the continuous improvement and innovation that’s taking place at Oxford Saïd.’
He was recognised alongside CIOs from the universities of Essex, Leicester, Sussex and Surrey, as well as companies including Aston Martin, Boots, Centrica and Times Higher Education.
Mark said he was approached by CIO 100 Awards organisers and encouraged to apply after he had a heart attack to highlight the importance of wellbeing, work : life balance and personal resilience, but was keen to stress the accolade was a team effort.
He added: ‘Our work compared to many other organisations have been instrumental in the School and Team being recognised in this way, especially when factoring in the size of our team and the resources we have in terms of people and budget compared to other organisations.’
In April, Mark also won the ‘Outstanding Contribution Award’ from the Universities and Colleges Information Systems Association (UCISA) for his work benchmarking suppliers and creating contractual frameworks for the higher education sector.
Chief Operating Officer Manos Kapterian said: ‘The School is extremely proud to see Mark’s outstanding leadership in continuing to drive forward our audio visual and technology support for students recognised among the UK’s CIO 100 Awards.
‘The work of Mark and his team is instrumental in supporting the advancement of our overall mission as one of the world’s leading business schools, in a world-class University, tackling world-scale problems.’
Mark joined Oxford Saïd in March 2015 as CIO after nearly nine years as Head of IT at the Welcome Trust. You are welcome to offer your congratulations to him in the comments section below.
