Profile

Andrew's work focuses on how companies and investors construct and implement management and measurement systems for long-term value creation, impact assessment and responsible business behaviour.

Andrew is the research and programme lead of the Oxford Saïd Initiative on Rethinking Performance (ORP) at Saïd Business School. ORP engages in empirical research and concept development in the area of sustainability management and measurement systems. Previously a partner with leading consulting firms and a post-graduate business school lecturer and researcher, he comes from a background of strategy and organisation and is especially interested in examining the development and integration of financial and non-financial objectives and measures and their impact on the effectiveness of companies’ and investors activities which aim at long-term and sustainable value. Andrew works with a consortium of companies and investors around questions of how to conceptualise and measure new forms of long-term value creation, and how to integrate these into current forms of performance management and measurement. Modern, prudent and long-term oriented companies and investors need to understand and demonstrate how they create (and destroy) value beyond financials. In other words, consider how profit is earned, not just how much is earned.

Andrew further collaborates in projects which focus on the problems related with to the resilient but responsive construction and implementation of management and measurement systems, reflecting both technical and leadership challenges within both for profit and non-profit organisations.

Andrew completed double undergraduate degrees in business administration in the UK and at ESB Reutlingen, Germany. His graduate and doctoral work was performed at Oxford, HEC Paris, Bocconi Milan, Ashridge and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. He has worked in industry and as a consultant at Partner and Country CEO level, and subsequently collaborated with Sustainserv, a sustainability consultancy firm. In parallel, he has taught MBA courses at Strathclyde Business School, ETH Zurich and CEIBS, and is tutor on the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme.
