A team of MBAs have won a competition to represent Oxford University at the prestigious Turner MIINT competition in the United States later this year.
AI Diagnostics, made up of Jasmin Dhingra, Ana Eslava, Harshal Thaker, Kanika Kochhar, and Miyuki Kiso, were up against 14 other MBA teams from across Saïd Business School. They won after presenting their plans for an AI-enabled digital stethoscope for early detection in tuberculosis (TB) management. The team will head to Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in April where they will compete against MBA teams from across the world at the prestigious Turner MIINT (Impact Investing Network & Training) competition.
Commenting on their win, the team said: ‘For us, winning was the feeling we had the night before, we were content in knowing that we had given our best to each other and to AI Diagnostics, a company leveraging the power of AI to tackle the global epidemic of tuberculosis. It is one of the most deadly and contagious diseases and, as such, part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Turner MIINT has been an enriching experience thus far, and we feel honoured to represent both AI Diagnostics and Oxford Saïd in the global competition at Wharton.’
The runner-up team 'Fresh Source', made up of Radhika Singh, Faseel Anwar, Adeyemi Adegbayi, and Kai-Yang Tee, presented a pioneering B2B commerce platform connecting businesses with farmers.
Last year saw the Oxford Saïd team win the Turner MIINT, a first for the University since the competition was founded in 2011. This year's Oxford MIINT competition was also a record year for MBA participants, with 15 teams vying to represent the University at Turner MIINT.
